Spring 2011
HVHVWP and PDS have planned a professional development partnership in three formats: 1. IInteractive Keynote Workshop with Mary Sawyer, HVWP Co-Director and Asoc. Professor, Dept. of Secondary Education at SUNY New Paltz "R"Remembering Our Writing Selves" DaDate: January 3, 2011 2. H2. HVWP will facilitate a study team for lower school teachers. There will be four, 1.5 hour sessions (6 hours). The general format of “book study” involves reading a common text and trying hands-on extensions of it in the study team and in the participants’ classrooms. Meetings also include time to discuss our experiences and examine any resulting student work. Facilitators: Dotty Feldman and Anita Merando, HVWP Teacher Consultants. DatDates: Tuesdays, March 29, April 12, April 26, May 3. Time: 3:30 (snacks) 3:45 - 5:15 (Study Session) 3. 3. HVWP will provide embedded professional development (“push in”). Although this may take different forms, we have budgeted for two full “cycles.” Each cycle involves an HVWP Teacher Consultant (TC) meeting with a teacher to establish a visit plan followed by an actual classroom visit and then a follow-up debrief. During the planning time, the team can plan how the TC can be most useful. A teacher may want the TC to teach/model a literacy strategy or co-teach, or observe, etc. (Approximately 3.75 hours per cycle = 7.5 hours total). DatDates:To be planned with Study Group participants
